Stay Safe in Hot Weather

5th July 2018

Leicestershire is set to bask in the sun for another two weeks – make sure you’re clued up on how to stay safe in the weather.

It looks like the hot weather is set to last another two weeks with temperatures reaching the early thirties!

It is very important that we know how to look after ourselves and others in hot weather so here’s some simple tips to help:

• close curtains and blinds on rooms that face the sun to keep indoor spaces cooler
• drink plenty of water as sugary and caffeinated drinks can make you more dehydrated
• try to keep out of the direct sunlight between 11am to 3pm
• walk in the shade, apply sunscreen and wear a hat, if you have to go out in the heat
• avoid physical exertion in the hottest parts of the day
• wear light, loose fitting cotton clothes
• make sure you take water with you if you are travelling
